Based on Anne Rice's iconic novel, follow Louis de Pointe's epic story of love, blood and the perils of immortality, as told to the journalist Daniel Molloy.
Watchseries; A great book that captured the loneliness of being a vampire and how it would make you insane or a predator. This captured none of it. It made Lestat be a sexual predator not a apex predator. He took advantage of Louis's sorrow in the book in this so far he just took advantage of him. I get it the network didn't see the worth of the Hero's journey from 1790 till the early 80's so they made it in 1910's .It really isn't that good as adaption so far. As a stand alone tv show it's ok. But part of the book was the journey through old Europe of Louis and Claudia which is now iffy since she's older.

Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire watchseries. A wonderfully reimagined version of one of my favorite movies and books. The acting, casting, story and production value all shine. I especially like Jacob Anderson as a new version of Louis. He was great in GoT but this new role really lets him to show his masterfull craft as an actor. The script is intriguing as the writers found a new way to tell the story we all know and love. It becomes a kind of a sequel and deepens and enriches the original characters. I really love that angle, as it keeps the spirit of the story intact but also allows us to be interested in the story - a "what if" version of it. Very cooll! Highly recommend it after first two episodes and hoping that the future ones will rise my final score to a perfect 10!

...lies Interview with the Vampire AMC series. Admittedly, I love most things vampire, but typically do not care for the "beautiful vampire"...the exception being Anne Rice. The novel is eloquent and contains various elements of mystique. The film did a good job of capturing elements of the novel and left a lot to the imagination. The AMC series (based on the first 2 episodes) is visually stunning and so far, doesn't skimp on character development or backstory. I would recommend that you watch all of the creative elements that went into this production before you rate it yourself. As of the second episode, I rate it 10 out of 10.

Interview with a vampire in name only. As per usual a book adaptation takes the work of someone else to make money off of it while ignoring the original material that made the name famous. I will concede the acting is great but almost every detail about the story and characters has been changed, and for what purpose? It's the most famous vampire book series in history for a reason. I could deal with the time line being so different if they didn't change everything else. Usually you see this in movie adaptations because you are cramming a long book into two hours, they don't have that excuse in a TV show. I realize that people who haven't read the books will probably like this and that it great for them and the show runners but it's pretty insulting to the long time fans of Rice's creation. I had hoped that they would learn their lesson from them travesty that was the queen of the damned.

: Interview With The Vampire is absolutely breathtaking. You have to accept it takes necessary liberties with the source material. Because a 50 years old book were the lead character owns slaves DOES need an update. The creators did it in a very clever, realistic and touching way (as opposed to say Bridgerton!).
From the lush soundtrack, insane production details, masterful special effects, this is a complete success to me. This also may be the first big budget show about an openly queer relationship and that's why people should celebrate rather than complaining about what has/ has not been in the books.
It keeps the gothic vibe and camp flamboyance of the original movie but adds gorgeous visuals and dramatic musical queues echoing Coppola's Dracula (particularly some crossfade effects when Lestat gets inside Louis mind). Just by itself, the priest scene is a masterpiece of vampire violence. There is a quiet pace in the episodes matching the emotional journey doubled with clever writing. I find the humor very well balanced with the more gruesome moments as it is always tricky when you do horror comedy.
Even the cynicism of the journalist which echoes our own cynicism and blasé attitude towards vampire stories fits perfectly the concept. As a metaphor of the viewer, you can tell he slowly falls for Louis magnetism.
People should learn to embrace an adaptation when a magistral effort is done to make it relevant in 2022 while keeping the fondamental elements in place. For almost 30 years we have watched many vampire romances, all of them combining in various ways, love, sex, violence and surnatural elements to the point where you could even question the relevancy of a new version of Anne Rice's novel.
So I applaud AMC for making a superb, modern and exciting adaptation and I can't wait to see where it goes.

Clearly, viewers who read the book are very unhappy. I never read the book....saw the movie 30 some odd years ago. But knew this would be different, because...of course it would be.
I watched this assuming I wouldn't like it. I'm happy to say...I LOVED IT. The acting is good, the story is good, I like the way it was updated to current times, I like the casting, love the cinematography. I was not at all disappointed with this retelling of the tale.
I get why fans of the book might take issue. But, just watching this with no knowledge of the book....it's a really good watch. I'm looking forward to future episodes.
Definitely recommend giving this a chance. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
