Watchseries; Well......this was an unnerving dark supernatural thriller n well written. There were some intense moments throughout n plenty of suspense It centred around one mans desperate attempt to save a woman he had never met in the real world.
The cast created very intense characters that were very disturbing n charismatic.
The ending was a little bit predictable but good nonetheless.
I recommend this series especially if you like dark supernatural thrillers.

Archive 81 watchseries. For the first two or three episodes I was really intrigued: along with main character Dan (Mamoudou Athie) I got more and more bewildered by all the weird goings-on and eager to find out what really had happened back then in the Visser building and what the connection was with Dan's father.
But gradually the writers seemed to loose their focus, and the story deteriorated into a hotchpotch of thriller, occult, supernatural, and even time-traveling. With that things became slightly repetitive, even tedious, in the process losing me almost completely. The rather unimpressive acting of Mamoudou, and the over-acting of Dina Shihabi (who with her boarding-on-hysteria behavior got more and more on my nerves!), didn't help either to refuel my attention. And throwing in all kinds of plot-twists and -turns is one thing, but in the end, after 8 episodes, you finally like to get some answers. It may be my simple brain, but I didn't get them.
Archive 81 is a fine series that limits itself in many ways.
It never goes full mystery and never tries to bend your mind and leave you confused for a couple of episodes.
What it does most of the time is it builds up to something, leaves it right away, builds up 5 new things and 2-3 episodes later tries to pick up on these but gives up. Some episodes are also tonally very different, which shows in random motivation and attitude changes, like when our main lead suddenly goes Oceans 11.
Surprisingly enough, the most mysterious episodes were done by Benson&Moorhead duo, although I dislike their other films.
If you strip the series of all the basic "cult" shenanigans (overused by Kill List, Hereditary, The Empty Man), the story becomes so simplistic they sum it up in a few sentences in the last episode.
The series has a nice feel to it, the atmosphere is great, although sometimes it's grainy, sometimes not, and color correction changes, there's probably a reason for that.
Acting-wise only the supporting cast performances can be enjoyed (although sometimes completely misdirected), the main archivist lead is wooden and a complete bore, lost girl Melody is memorable, but not due to the acting, she's unique in some way, but I can not say for sure why. Sadly we didn't get enough supporting characters on screen. Even though some of them were barely believable, like the Davenport brother, who is so useless you can't buy him for a powerful company CEO.
The 90ties setting was ok, they didn't go full nostalgia, but kept some of the pop culture references.
If the ending wasn't such a cliched failure, I'd give Archive 81 an 8-9. It is still a good watch, just drags a lot, wasting too much time on boring leads. Additional creativity would've greatly improved this. Like seriously, if the most intriguing part in your series is the otherworld and the demon-god, at least try to make these look good.
Every conceivable aspect about Archive 81 is your pretty basic stuff! Except for its core concept which in all honesty do set it apart from the rest. Conceptualization of a parallel universe, an otherworldly dimension, the idea itself isn't something new; but what makes Archive 81 unique is its distinct way of presentation and the particular approach that is coming right from the script level.
Fraught with striking visuals that gave birth to an eerie but desirable ambience. Additionally, a rather resilient score makes up for the rest. Now, it would be a blatant untruth If I tell you that everything from a technical viewpoint was flawless. It wasn't! To tell you the truth, the CGI was subpar, especially if you compare it to other contemporary Netflix projects; it's not up to the expectations.
Another key problem is the absence of a strong emotional backbone. Stories like these, demand great sentimental values. And if truth be told, I didn't get much of that in here. On the other end, If I talk about the actors and their respective performances; Dina Shihabi as Melody is the indisputable star of the show! Mamoudou Athie as Dan was decent but he never really got to that point of excellence I had hoped for! Although, I can't put all the burden on the cast alone, as the Writing on their characters leaves much to be desired.
So finally, we've reached the part where I would like to conclude. The main query from your end would be "Is it worth a watch?", and my answer is a big Yes. In the space of supernatural shows, this series does leave an impression. A fairly competent execution, a very good attempt at doing things in a slightly different manner. My only advice would be to keep your expectations in check and let the virtue of 'Patience' come out. Trust me, you're gonna need it.
Both a god and a demon.
A new horror sci-fi thriller series on Netflix.
From the get-go, I was hooked into the story. The strongest aspect of this series was the way it slowly unveiled the mystery. After each episode, there was always a curveball that made me question what just happened, and of course pulled me more into the story.
However, when everything came together, I was a bit disappointed. Couple of aspects felt into the typical cult genre that didn't pay off the buildup. However, there's a last twist that saved the episode.
Overall, it's an intriguing mystery thriller. Hoping Season 2 will be even better. 8/10.
I wanted to give this film my attention. But by the 6th and 7th episode I lost so much interest I began to lose control of the story. It was very repetitive slow;
