Sci fi mystery as a western got the blood moving. Brolin is an uber believable rancher caught up in some weird as hell other worldly oddness, kid problems, ranch problems, neighbor problems, moral problems, it's really a full plate. End of episode 2 was like...omg. Cannot wait for episode 3.

Such an underrated show. Nobody has true taste anymore for real cinema. The show is spectacular obviously it's not Yellowstone it's totally different story line. So people can stop comparing it to that. Josh Brolin doesn't amazing job as always show is awesome and down 10 out of 10.

A Stormy opening, a crisp Chronos monologue and the Anarchy brand, followed by a family hubbub where patriarch Royal (Josh Brolin) loses track of time. The scene is set in five minutes, a tale of time, family and dramatic events. Storytelling at its finest!
Beautiful cinematography, fabulous backdrops and subtle use of overhead shots, though the night scenes are too dark. The music is also carefully and appropriately selected.
Fine early performances from Imogen Poots (Autumn - time related name) with her head-tilted, knowing expression and Lili Taylor (Cecilia Abott) controlling young men with minimal authoritative dialogue.
A superb start with a delightful blend of elements - highly recommended.

Im ep2 and what an interesting plot this is. Keeps you glued to TV. Still not fully understanding whats going on. Good acting. Very mysterious TV show. Hope it keeps going like this.

This has started off great - Josh makes a fantastic old school rancher, and the mystery and Gods connection is hugely interesting.
The cinematography is GORGEOUS. The tones, the vignettes, the shots.
Stick with it.

This is what happened when a Forsaken Western (2017-), Twin Peaks, and X-Files walked into a bar...
I thought that comic-book infected greeny-wood could no longer make something this original, creative, and competently made with minimal CGI gimmicks. The slower TV pace holds up well, and it was smart to release Outer Range episodes in pairs.
Brian Watkins brings something special to the small screen. See his bio at heroesandvillains-ent. Josh Brolim makes Kevin Costner look like a city slicker. The score is somewhat reminiscent of Angelo Badalamenti.

I'm not quite sure how anyone can truly judge this show with just two episodes - or why it has such negative reviews.
Through two episodes I will tell you this - the premise is intriguing and each episode leaves you wanting more. So many question marks and mysteries.
The show has beautiful cinematography, great acting, interesting story - I have seen people complain of the pacing and lighting but I haven't noticed an issue with pacing and yes a lot of what has happened has been at night but it's easy to see what is going on (watch the show at night or in a dark room if you're having trouble seeing it)
Can't wait to see where this all leads. Good show so far 8/10 - hope it keeps up the mystery & pacing and doesn't take any weird left turns.

But when I see initial reviewers complaining about pacing issues.. I Have to wonder how bad their ADHD is.... supposedly I have that maledy... but I manage to not judge a first ep on pacing problems. In face when picking a new series to watch... that is far from a decider in the first ep... the 3rd to 5ht? Of a 10 ep series? Sure. Analyse pacing then... but writng, direction, editing, acting and many more things over shadow pacing if the series or film is trash from the get go.
I'll come back for a proper review after a couple eps since I've been waiting for this series to release ill give it the benefit of doubt.

Envision a love child between Yellowstone and Lost, and Outer Range is spawned. There are definite correlations with shows like Twin Peaks, Black Mirror, Stranger Things, Tales from the Loop, and... Constantine? I don't know, maybe that last one is a stretch, but we will see. It's Just a hunch. It contains all the same elements as Yellowstone, even set in Wyoming, so just replace Kevin Costner with Josh Brolin and - POOF.
Outer Range has A LOT of potential! Please, please, please persevere to become a commendable show. The ambience is nebulous, ensconced in Native American folklore, and mingled with an eerie science fiction mythos that could be a veritable triumph.
There are some interesting similarities in the characters, such as Tom Pelphrey's who left the cast of Ozark after bungling everything, only to continue his spree of tomfoolery here. Will Patton's doppelgänger was plucked from Yellowstone as well (a bit vapid). But otherwise, this has the makings of something wonderful.
A cautious 8 stars for now.

I'm writing this as I start the second episode. I loved the first episode but I agree with the few people that say it's so dark so that's why I'm calling it an 8 for now. I turned off two lights in my room and closed the blinds and I still could barely see a damn thing in the night scenes. I understand the material is dark and brooding so the show must be too but come on, turn on a light.
Someone also complained about the cast but I think the cast is great. Brolin aside you got Tom Pelphrey (who crushed it in Ozark), Lewis Pullman (great in Catch-22 and BTATER), Matt Lauria (crushed it in Friday Night Lights and Kingdom), Noah Reid (still trying to get used to his character after Schitt's Creek lol), Imogen Poots, and the great Lili Taylor. Cast is solid, acting was great so far as well.
Only blemish thus far is the lighting. Watching this show with two lights off and closed blinds I definitely need a nap. I think this is going to be a fantastic show and I look forward to see how it progresses.
