In the East Wing of the White House, many of history's most impactful and world changing decisions have been hidden from view, made by America's charismatic, complex and dynamic first ladies.
Watchseries; I really enjoyed this show because it made me laugh a lot. Every time Viola Davis' lips appear you can't stop laughing and then when you see Gillian Anderson's jaw and you laugh some more. The only one serious in this show is Michelle Pfeiffer, she embodies the character quite well and you pay attention on what her character says, but as soon as the other ladies show up all seriousness goes out of the window and loses credibility. I will watch the other episodes because this is a great comedy without a laugh track.

The First Lady watchseries. The acting is top notch as expected. Who ever thought jumping around to tell the story was a good idea? Each story needed to be on their own. Jumping around makes it less important. Bad idea. Sorry.

One star is far too generous for this chaotic narrative. Didn't anybody in the editing room watch the dailies, to adjust and assess? This catalogue of incompetence should have been deep-sixed. In REAL life, all three first ladies were/are brilliant, but in this show, they are overacting, two dimensional clowns. It's too excruciating to watch. I can't figure out how such fine actresses got suckered into this mess.

Viola Davis and Gillian Anderson are doing impersonations more suited for "Saturday Night Live." Michelle Pfeiffer on the other hand humanizes First Lady Betty Ford, an often overlooked historical figure. I happen to agree with critics who've stated that this show would have fared better had the entire spotlight been on Betty Ford.

There were times in the first episode when I felt like they were making funny of them instead of honoring them. I won't be watching anymore episodes. I hope this show doesn't get a second season.

Thank you! I don't know if this was supposed to be satirical comedy but it's kind of sad Michelle was portrayed as a caricature because I think she's a good person. But I was in tears laughing at this pilot episode because it was so lazy. It was like a skit. This was a borderline lifetime movie that seemed almost like it was mocking it's subject. I literally can't remember the last time I was uncontrollably laughing, how did no one notice?!?! It's a good lesson in comedy, because the audience can't tell if it's intended or not (similar to a person walking around unaware toilet paper is stuck to their shoe).
The writing was also shallow, why do we need to see Michelle remind Obama in derogatory terms he's the "unconventional one." Kind of rude and insulting to constantly gaslight and demean people of color (even if it's meant as a history lesson.) it's like that play To Kill A Mockingbird... why do they still do that? It's insulting because they use that demeaning word multiple times towards people and it's like haven't we moved past it??? I'm over it. I want to see black people represented as human beings with dignity and not constantly called that word or portrayed as stereotype because we need to "remind people." Skip this.
