After an au pair’s tragic death, Henry hires a young American nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew who reside at Bly Manor with the chef Owen, groundskeeper Jamie and housekeeper, Mrs. Grose.
Watchseries; I honestly can't believe that they have put this out there after the heartbreaking, raw and completely terrifying masterpiece that was Hill House. This has been the biggest disappointment. Hill House had clever, original scares that were so scary, at times I could barely watch. I also felt deeply invested in the characters from the first couple of episodes. 5 episodes in with Bly Manor and it was so boring , it was frustrating to watch. The actor who plays Luke in Hill House has an irritating Scottish accent. The kids had the quaintest, old fashioned accents while everyone else was modern. It felt like a mish mash of characters that quite frankly weren't that interesting. Not like the deep connections and devastating history that connected the characters in Hill House. It is also not even remotely scary, which I don't understand. I mean is that not the audience we have here?

The Haunting of Bly Manor watchseries. This story has so many turning points ,just like the hill house and the growth of each character is just "perfectly splendid". You will laugh ,you will fear, and you definitely would love on how gradually and mysteriously the story grows. They actually did save the best for the last . The story has so many folds and yet doesn't loose it's touch of sense and keeps us guessing what's going on . The last 2 episodes joins all the loose ends , solves all the mysteries and answers all the questions that you have in your mind since the 1st episode. You might find yourselves confused about what's happening and how it's happening ,and the show writers have done a great job letting us guess and wonder on what's going ,that even if we are right ,there is another twist to that theory.
This was a show of beautiful writing, beautiful acting and most importantly ,a show that ends with peace .

The haunting of hill house sent chills up my spine. This is quite opposite. You're lucky to get one horror scene that scares you per episode. The story is bland as well, acting is hit or miss. Nothing early on entices you to keep watching.
Maybe expectations were too high after the hill house masterpiece. Also surprised with the number of 9 or 10/10 reviews on the first day of release.

I loved Haunting of Hill House. Everything about it was so well executed. However, wanting to give this series a fair chance, I went into this with no intention of comparing it to its predecessor but it just falls so short.
The first couple episodes were really good. Great setting up the characters and the intrigue. All the actors all having different accents, I felt took away from their performances and was distracting. I don't like the whole "narrator telling a story" trope but I held hope. The plot was paper thin and just moved so slowly. Just so slowly to where you find yourself asking "what's the plot? why am I here?". And the loosely assembled plot is wrapped up so quickly. I feel like it just kind of fell apart around halfway through. The show never even scared me. Was it supposed to??
I didn't want to compare it to Hill House but it just fell so short there's no way I can't. It lacks all the emotional depth, horror, cinematography, and storytelling that makes Hill House so compelling. I mean Hill House still scares me to this day and Bly just left me confused. I wish this review wasn't so harsh, I wish I loved this, but sadly I don't.

I just finished the last episode, the only reason why I actually finished this show was because the reviews had so many 10s... so I watched, sighed, watched again.
By episode 5 I was really struggling, but pulled through because people said the last two episodes would be amazing. I was left disappointed to say the least.
The Haunting of Hill House was what got me excited for this show, but I honestly think Bly Manor is meant for an entirely different audience. Will I still be watching the Youtube videos counting the ghost? Yes, but with not even close to the same enthusiasm as I had previously hoped.

This show was "Absolutely dreadful". I felt like I was waiting the entire season for something to happen. I wanted to throw the kids in the stupid lake and call it a day.
